Council report - the topic that generated the most interest was the possible sale of the athletic field for building lots by the Mariemont District School Board, Evelyn Peery brought a petition to Council asking that plans for the village green be postponed for further consideration by the community, patrolman Dennis Goebel will leave the village, Robert Biddle raised to the status of permanent patrolman-recruit, ordinance was passed to purchase a new cruiser, two more storm sewers will be constructed this spring to alleviate water accumulation in low areas, service employees to have a wage increase and a third maintenance man will be needed when Alan Baldwin goes into the hospital, 7 mill levy expires so new levy will have to be put on in November, passage of the cable ordinance deferred

Council report - Police Chief Hiett assigned as superintendent of the maintenance department, Marvin Alexander hired as third man on maintenance force, village acquired new and larger leaf collector, a salt spreader and a line painter, a program will be pushed to maintain and replace street trees as needed, money to be spent for immediate improvement of village green, citizens committee to be formed to decide what action to take with the village green, first reading for traffic signal, approved reorganization of fire department, reappointed Bruce Brown to another five year term, etc.

Matrix Corp. presents its report on land use and Bill Stevens gave presentation on BBSCo.'s plans
Council report - bids are due for new chipper, dry wells prepared by village employees handled heavy rains, a macadam wedge will run along section of Indian Hill Road to delineate bike path, a large amount of time was spent on Bill Stevens asking for a variance to the ordinance on septic system mandatory, first reading of the ordinance to establish the state fire code was passed, the stop sign for Indian Hill Road at Old Indian Hill intersection is ready for installation, the permit to install the pre-timed traffic signal at Wooster and Elm has been received and the last reading of the ordinance to pay for installation passed, council passed the ordinance approving the 1974 budget, the school will buy a new back stop for the athletic field, the school board dropped the idea of selling the athletic field, authorization will be sent to prevent outside groups from using the field, draperies have been ordered for the Community House and painting of the exterior is being investigated, a special meeting of council has been set for June 24 to vote on emergency legislation to bring the procedural ordinance regarding the village building permit schedule into line with the law of Hamilton County, Kent's Cable TV ordinance passed its third reading, the solicitor will get bids for codification of village ordinances and resolutions
the appeal of the Kuntz instream gravel operation was heard and the decision by Judge Gusweiler was upheld and two suits are pending regarding removing gravel from a designated scenic river and removal of the dam across the river
