The Terrace Park Historical Society hosted a very successful “Evening with Charles Meurer” on November 14th. Through the generosity of many local Meurer collectors and the Eisele Gallery of Fine Art in Fairfax, over 40 paintings of various genres were exhibited. The Gallery owned by former Terrace Park resident Doug Eisele was a perfect setting to enjoy the art and company of over 100 guests and his staff made us feel very welcome as we took over their space for an evening.
The TPHS hosted the event as a Thank You to our Lifetime Members who have made substantial commitments to our organization.
A very special THANK YOU to Rich Gilchrist who helped from the very beginning in so many ways. He tracked down paintings, researched Meurer and presented an entertaining synopsis of his life and work, picked up and delivered art and, to top it off, donated a lovely oil painting by another Terrace Park artist from the past, Lillie Fry Fisher, as a raffle item.
Rick Koehler donated one of his paintings, “Grand Valley,” and Ogle Annett created a chock full wine and cheese basket as raffle items. And one more thank you to our volunteer bartender extraordinaire , Bo Hesser.
